Steve Jenkin, Chief Executive
Steve was born in Truro and educated at Falmouth Grammar School for Boys and Cornwall Technical College. Following study at Portsmouth Polytechnic he qualified as a social worker and achieved an MBA through the Open University.
Steve's career has spanned over thirty years in health and social care including roles as a CEO of a national charity for adults with a learning disabilty and most recently as Director of Health & Social Care for national charity Sue Ryder.
Jo Beer, Interim Director of Operations
Jo has trained as both an adult and children's nurse and held senior nursing positions in critical care, neuroscience for many years before moving to the community in 2008. Jo took the strategic role of locality manager for PCH in 2009, supporting the organisation in shaping direction, values and culture and bringing with her an intrinsic understanding of the health sector. Jo is passionate about healthcare and delivering care closer to home for Cornish patients.
In 2015 Jo joined the board as Interim Director of Operations, a role in which she will ensure effective performance and delivery of all operational services across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
Steve Simmons, Interim Director of Finance
Steve is a graduate of the London School of Economics and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
He joined the NHS in 1992 and after nine years in Plymouth as Finance Director and CEO of the Community and Mental Health Trust, has held other Director posts with Primary Care Trusts and Acute Hospitals in the South of England.
He spent a year as Finance Director of Watford Football Club, who he has supported from an early age.
Steve lives near Launceston, and in his spare time follows sport and enjoys Cornish wildlife.
Jacquie Kessell, Director of Human Resources
Graduating with a Business Studies degree, Jacquie specialised in Human Resources and has been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development since 1991. Starting her career within the NHS with the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust for five years, Jacquie subsequently spent 14 years in a variety of HR roles within local government most recently as Head of HR Services within Carrick District Council and Operations and Transition Manager within Cornwall Council. Jacquie undertook a lead role managing the transition of seven authorities to one unitary council with Cornwall and brings experience in operational and strategic HR issues.
Justin Day, Legal Director
Brought up in Looe, Justin later graduated from London University as a Solicitor. He then became partner in a south west law firm and deputy district judge. Returning to university he then qualified as a clinical audiologist. Both his legal experience and work in NHS community care led to roles as a deputy company secretary, company secretary and later commercial legal adviser. Justin returned to Cornwall in 2012 and was part of the core commercial team setting up the Strategic Partnership between Cornwall Council, PCH, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and BT Cornwall. Justin is passionate about collaborative working between public sector organisations and has presented academic paper at British Columbia University on collaborate working within the NHS.
Dr Janine Glazier, Medical Director
Janine worked as a GP in Penzance for 7 years and joined the Acute GP Service in 2009, becoming Clinical Lead in 2012.
In addition to her part time role with PCH, Janine remains Joint Clinical Lead for The Cornwall Acute GP service, one of the KCCG Clinical Urgent Care Leads and locum GP in West Cornwall. She is also a busy working Mum to three boys.
Her passion and focus is to working with the local health community to develop excellent health care for Cornwall.
Nick Buckland, Chairman
Nick Buckland lives near Launceston and runs an organic farm with his wife Debbie. He is currently Pro Chancellor and Chair of the Governors of the University of Plymouth and a board member of the Theatre Royal, Plymouth. Nick also holds a number of private sector executive and non-executive directorships in a variety of companies and is on the board of two charitable trusts.
Until October 2010 Michael was Corporate Director for Communities at Nottingham City Council, responsible for adult social care and health; community and neighbourhood management; environmental services; community protection; and culture.
Michael brings expertise in partnership working with a range of statutory, social, sports, tourism and voluntary sector bodies, having chaired, the Youth Offending Board, the Supporting People Partnership Board and the Neighbourhoods Theme Partnership of the Local Strategic Partnership. He also worked with the Primary Care Trust on the joint strategic needs assessment and on crime, alcohol and drugs work with the Police.
Michael was the Chairman of Peninsula Community Health until May 2015.
Elaine Marshall held the position of Police Commander for Cornwall & Isles of Scilly until her retirement in October 2010. Elaine was a pupil at Launceston College, then progressed on to Exeter University and Cambridge University. In the Police Service she has worked in Strategic Partnerships for Plymouth and Cornwall, Chaired the Crime & Disorder Partnership and the Domestic Violence Strategy Group for the County. She lives in Cornwall with her husband and they are both keen golfers.
