Working and Living in Cornwall

Cornwall is home to around 500,000 people and in the holiday seasons this population nearly doubles as the area becomes a destination for holiday makers from around the world. They flood here with good reason – to enjoy what the locals have all year round: sandy beaches, the sound of the sea, stunning countryside including areas of outstanding natural beauty, strong cultural identity and folklore, historic landscapes and heritage, strong local communities, festivals, gastronomy and stars beyond belief. There’s something for everyone in Cornwall.

Our Bank (temporary) workers are vital to Peninsula Community Health’s (PCH ) workforce. Bank workers are essential to help meet variations in activity levels, cover vacancies, cover some staff absences, as well as to bring in specific skills for short periods of time.

Bank Opportunities

Working on PCH’s Bank of temporary staff offers a flexible way of working, with both ad hoc and longer, block bookings available. You could work for a day here and there, for a week or for a number of months.

Many of our Bank workers find temporary working to be more suitable to their lifestyle and needs. Bank working could be your main method of working or a secondary role. We have lots of Bank workers who have substantive posts within our services.

There are many varied reasons for becoming a Bank worker. These include:

  • the need for flexible working arrangements to achieve a better work-life balance;
  • the desire to gradually return to work after a break;
  • the wish to work in an area where currently there are no permanent vacancies;
  • wanting to earn some extra money;
  • the aspiration to gain more skills and experience;
  • the wish to experience working for PCH without committing to a permanent post;
  • relocating from another part of the country/world and wanting to see if PCH is the right place for you.

You will also get opportunities to apply for vacancies as an internal candidate and training opportunities.

We use SMS messaging to send information about available shifts, changes in timesheet cut-off dates and other important information and you will soon be able to book bank shifts online.

It’s also really easy to join.
